Ok people, I for one am all about advancement. However, when you have a brand name like GAP, you do not change it
I know, I know, its easy for me to say that now that the people have spoken. Take this into considration. If GM changed their logo to something that looked more like Audi, Amercians would have a fit!
So why is that? Everytime we buy a LG tv or a blackberry phone we are making a statment about who we are. The clothing we wear, the brands we use. Some people walk down the street and say "I am important", "I dont care", "I fight the system". Where ever you fit, you choose things and looks that tell the story.
Stay true to the brand & the people who hold it up and you will never fall.
Lots of speculation is going around on the new iPhone 4g... in HD!! Official features will be revealed at the WWDC conference this June.
Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4G and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iphone to their network. The new iPhone 4g is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat, multi-tasking and extreme downloading. (List of possible features below). Just when you think there is nothing else to come up with, more and more and more technology comes out. And it is on the rise, and not just at Apple, Inc!
Woo hoo! This iPhone 4g could also have dual core processors and higher and powerful graphic chips that can deliver higher video resolutions and better "still" images when taking pictures.
There are a few networks working on building a 4G network. T-mobile would be a likely carrier since they are GSM already. Sprint has a 4G network already... AT&T and Verizon Wireless are in the beginning stages. There are talks of Verizon Wireless getting iPhone sometime in 2010 since the exclusive contract with AT&T expires, but it could be renewed until 2012.
Whether or not it will be 4G will be up to them!... can they build in time? Regardless, there is much anticipation on how many people will leave AT&T for Verizon Wireless because of AT&T's lagging on app restrictions like Slingplayer and Google Voice and Skype (on #g network, not Wi-Fi).
AT&T's restrictions have caused the percentage of people that are JailBreaking their iPhones to rise since Jail Breaking usually comes with Cydia which is the app store for jail broken phones. Most of the applications, ringtones, and even iphone themes!...are free with Cydia. Winterboard is part of the download, and it very easily add's the changes to your phone so you dont have to figure how to do it on your own...it is VERY automated.
The Palm Pre on Sprint (Sprint now offering a 4G network) has made an attempt at being competitive with iPhone and Blackberry...but it's not looking good. Maybe their recent Android phone will help.
iPhone 4G looks promising in terms of being sleek, packed with new hardware and multi-tasking software. Very exciting.
A few features of iPhone 4G:
Unified Mailbox (all email accounts in one area).
Application folders.
New wallpaper/background options.
A new, sleeker body design.
OLED screen.
Multi-Tasking. (use multiple functions at once without going in and out of apps).
iChat camera (on the front so you can have video chat!!!).
32G (basic) and 64G of memory. You're sure to never run out.
A few weeks ago a friend of mine (Sam Cohen) kept telling me I need to check out a new Adobe platform called "Flash Catalyst".
I didnt look into this until a few days later, but here's the point: This thing rocks.
For companies like mine, who deal with businesses who "need to see it" to understand what the final product is going to look like, this will serve as a life saver. If you work anywhere near the design industry, it is worth your time to watch this video.
Video Desc: Join Steve Heinz as he introduces you to Adobe Flash Catalyst and shows you some of the amazing things you can do with it.
Several years ago I thought I had a pretty good hold on what makes branding work: good looks, company message, etc.. Around that same time however, I started reading a stack of books that one might call fridge economics. A good portion of the books were dedicated to what humans all across the world feel in regards to a company. Studies found of course that people in the states had a much different way of looking at a product than did those in say: China. For the most part the things I read about are things most marketing companies already know. What really got me thinking at the time was the break down of details (details of or in what? i.e. visual details) so small most would think nothing of them. It was said in one book (which one?) that when twenty first century Jeeps came into production they were designed to resemble a horse. This was done because through much research it was determined that in the modern mind, the Jeep can, through proper advertising, be seen as the same to us now as a horse was for the people of earlier centuries.
Maybe if we put a little more thought into how our products and services are playing a role in today's market and society, we too can enjoy great success (maybe even a "come back") in the next year.
Just a thought...
